I love seeing women rock any style however they choose no matter what their body type is, however sometimes you just want that small waist look! I know, it has been a different year for many of you and some may have event put a few extra what I hear to be referred to as “covid pounds”. Some of you may be frustrated but thankfully it is not the end of the world and you will get your waistline and your whole body in great shape especially now when you ladies have extra time on your hands! It is time to hit the gym or enjoy the privacy of your own home, take care of your wonderful self and in the meantime you don’t have to have a waist the size of a barbie doll to get that synched in look. There are many ways to trick the eye to make it appear as if your waist is a few sizes smaller.
Here are my 10 favorite tips and tricks on HOW TO MAKE YOUR WAISTLINE APPEAR SMALLER.
1. Thick Belts
I’ve found that a thick belt around the waist can help synch in any top or dress. I like to situate mine a half inch above my natural waistline to help it look really pulled in. If you want to make it look even smaller, try wearing a push-up bra with this tip. Doing this will help push your breast up, making your waistline to appear as if you have a longer more slender torso. The combination together really makes a difference.

2. Peplum Top or Bottom
I love a good peplum top or bottom. The feature adds a lot of interesting texture and flare to an outfit. The way this works is that it makes your hips appear slightly larger by the material flaring out around that area, making your waist, and legs appear smaller. Great styling tip to keep in mind for those who has very narrow hips and wider shoulders.

3. Tucking Your Tops In
By simply tucking in your top you can transform any outfit.
By tucking in a looser fitting top it will make your waist look more defined and fitted. Your loose or oversized top will carry more of the visual weight making your legs and waist appear smaller. Keep this trick in mind when you are tucking a top in – you want to form your top into a V-tuck. This will only emphasize on your “skinny” waistline. I like to pair this tip with a pair of high-rise pants for ultimate waist synching.
4. High-Rise Bottoms
High-rise pants and skirts are a classic. I don’t think I even own a pair of jeans that aren’t high-rise at this point. By the denim ending at your waist instead of your hips it helps to really synch in that waistline. High-rise bottoms help to suck in any extra skin you may have around that area and almost acts like shape-wear for the body.

5. Tailored Blazer
A good tailored blazer is one of my favorite staples in my wardrobe currently. Easy to dress up and down and very versatile. A good tailored blazer is a must in every women’s wardrobe these days. A tailored blazer works by synching in your waist when it is buttoned up, then the lower part of the blazer flares out just a touch laying on your hips giving that hourglass illusion.
6. Off the Shoulder Tops
We are using our shoulders to our advantage for this one. Accentuating your shoulders will act as an upside down triangle. Making you appear wider at the shoulders and slimmer at the waist and hips.

7. Color Blocking
Color blocking is a trend we saw a lot of around 2011-2012. It is all about using the color wheel to your advantage. Taking bright colors that you may think would clash, but actually make you look like magic when they’re together! This tip is huge when it comes to shrinking your waist in. Wearing a dress that is a bright color everywhere, except for a darker color around your waist, will make it look nearly nonexistent. Same methods is used for cut-outs.

8. Wrap Dresses or Tops
Not only are wrap dresses/ tops comfortable for summer, but they also hide anything you may not want to show off. A good wrap dress usually wraps right around your waist, hugging the smallest point of your waist. It then flows out creating a slit for a bit of your leg to poke through and be the focal point of this outfit.
9. A-line Outfits
Cinching in your waist line with a wide belt or putting on a pair of high-waisted A-line trousers will visually make your waist appear much smaller compare to the wide bottom. Works like a charm!

10. Wear Heels
Last but not least, and my favorite – WEAR HEELS!! I know many of you stay away from heels for number of your personal reasons. I say – WEAR HEELS! And I will tell you why:
- Having your heels on, you will automatically make you look taller than you are which will naturally slim you down.
- Combining this tip with any of the tips described above, will puts you in a much better position if you are looking to get that slim waistline look.
- You tend to slow down as you walk. Not many have done marathons wearing heels – this skill yet to be improved ))) And as you walk slower, you naturally open your shoulders as you keep your head up looking at people or beautiful surroundings. You tend to change your posture from a “cane” shape to a “gracious swan”.
